Devotions

H. Otto McDonald, Jr., is a native of Hodges who lived elsewhere for most of his working life, only to return to the area during retirement. Following service in the Pacific as a master sergeant in the Marine Corps during WW II, he entered the field of radio in Greenwood, SC. Over the years he built, engineered, and operated several stations and taught communications engineering at Baltimore (MD) Technical Institute and Greenville (SC) Technical College. Otto was co-owner of WHPB in Belton and WELP in Easley, before becoming owner and operator of WLET in Toccoa, GA. He also served as President of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters.

In 1952, Otto began broadcasting his "Little Country Church," a devotional program which has been broadcast continuously since then. It currently may be heard over WKDY in Spartanburg and WNEG in Toccoa. He has also filled the pulpit in churches of various denominations throughout north Georgia and South Carolina.

A Presbyterian Elder, Otto has served on the Session of three different congregations.
